Greece vetoed the invitation for Macedonia to join NATO at the Bucharest NATO Summit April 2-4, 2008 after it was agreed that Macedonia had fulfilled all the membership requirements set in the NATO Membership Action Plan (MAP). There was unanimous outrage of this barbaric act in the world press:
