Dear Representative Wasserman,

It has come to my attention that Representatives Vrakas, Owens and Hahn have
introduced Assembly Resolution 30 which states that Macedonia is Greek and
the inhabitants of Northern Greece are descendants of the ancient
Macedonians.

I am an American citizen who was born in Macedonia. I obtained a Ph.D. in
physics from Arizona State University and I joined the faculty of the
University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee in 1993. I am a resident of Whitefish
Bay for the past 10 years. I am writing to you as my representative in the
Wisconsin State Assembly. I respectfully request that you represent my
opposition to Assembly Resolution 30.

I believe that scientific issues should be discussed and resolved in the
peer reviewed literature, not in state legislatures. I would not like to
see the Wisconsin State Assembly entangled in problems that deal with
ancient history and genetic anthropology, just as I would not like to debate
issues in my area of physics in front of the state legislature. I urge you
to propose that this resolution, and other resolutions of this type, be
tabled without vote.

I am attaching a letter from the president of the Macedonian American
Friendship Association. I agree with the sentiment and statements expressed
in this letter.

I will be happy to meet with you should you need further information before
your discussions in the assembly.

Sincerely,

Marija Gajdardziska-Josifovska
